Our Holiday Demos start the weekend of November 28th and 29th! Mark your calendars and be sure to stop into your local Blick store to take part in these festive and FREE interactive events. Spread holiday cheer with handmade greeting cards or deck the halls with mini canvas ornaments. All demos are scheduled for 2-5pm on the dates listed below.

On Saturday, November 7, 2009, the Blick Art Materials store in Wheaton, IL hosted interactive demonstrations led by representatives from Sanford and Golden for art teachers attending the Illinois Art Education Association (IAEA) 2009 Conference. The event, which required pre-registration, was filled well in advance. Everyone came away with great knowledge and really enjoyed the experience. Attendees also received free giveaways from Golden and Sanford, as well as fun Blick goody bags filled with samples, t-shirts, and other materials. Thank you to Diana Garrett from Sanford and Sandie Bacon from Golden for leading the demonstrations for our IAEA guests!

Treasure Island Music Festival
On October 17th and 18th associates from the Blick Art Materials stores in Berkeley and Oakland, CA attended the Treasure Island Music Festival. This festival is one of the largest of its kind in Northern California and draws popular independent music acts from around the country. Held on a man-made island in the San Francisco Bay, Treasure Island Music Festival also featured a variety of other exhibits and activities.
Spray Painting and Sumi Activities
Blick was excited to supply materials for the art area, which included spray painting and Sumi ink demos. The Blick Art Materials booth was in a neighboring location, so our staff was in the perfect spot to be in on all the fun. Our prize wheel was a huge hit and visitors took home goodies like free t-shirts, product samples, and discounts for store purchases. Thanks to the Blick employees for working the festival and to everyone who stopped by the booth! And of course, thank you to the Treasure Island Music Festival for making this opportunity possible.

Blick retail locations* will host special Halloween-themed Blick-or-Treat activities Saturday, October 24th and Sunday, October 25th. Join the fun by participating in face painting demos and a scary mini canvas painting contest. Activities are scheduled from 2-5pm both days.

The Columbus Blick store hosted a free Golden Acrylic lecture and demonstration this past Saturday, September 12, 2009.
Attendees learned about the versatility of acrylics and how they can be used as grounds for other media, such as watercolor or colored pencil. The topics of color mixing, blending, and controlling drying time were also covered. Students also discovered how new product lines from Golden can help them take their work in new directions.
The goal was for artists of all levels to gain new insights and skills to enhance their creative expression. Participants received free product samples and a literature packet from Golden.

Staff from our Las Vegas store attended the Nevada Watercolor Society meeting held the evening of Wednesday, September 9, 2009. It was great to see so many familiar faces! Blick provided discount coupons, samples, and product literature for attendees. The program also included a demonstration given by nationally known watercolor artist, Joan McKasson. Everyone was able to pick up new knowledge and helpful tips.

Nina Deckert leads the acrylic transfer demonstration
Blick Art Materials in Berkeley, CA hosted a free demonstration led by Golden Representative, Nina Deckert, on Saturday, September 5, 2009. Ms. Deckert is also an artist who uses transfer techniques in her own work. The class was completely full in advance!

The San Francisco Blick Art Materials store hosted a mixer for ArtSpan members on Wednesday, August 26, 2009. ArtSpan is a Bay Area organization for local artists that also produces an annual Open Studios event. Approximately 70 Art Span members attended the mixer. Demos were available throughout the store. Attendees were able use the evening to socialize and network with each other.
