On exhibit now in the Columbus store is the culmination of an entire year of art projects from students at the Columbus Music and Art Academy or CMAA. CMAA is a nonprofit institution that teaches voice, instrument, music theory, as well as visual art lessons to students ranging in age from 4 to 18 years old.
The visual arts program at the academy has close to 60 students and each student is represented in this annual exhibition by select paintings and drawings. The visual arts program focuses on teaching painting and drawing skills, and exposing students to a variety of mediums including pencil, colored pencils, oil pastels, watercolors, acrylic paints, and oils. Students meet on Saturdays for one hour each week to work on a wide range of projects including portraiture, figure drawing, landscapes, observational drawing, and abstract imagery.
