On Sunday, April 17, 2011 the Galesburg community came together for a rally to gain support for the “We Hear You, America” contest by Reader’s Digest. The rally took place outside the Knox County Courthouse near Standish Park in Galesburg, Illinois. Galesburg store associate and artist, Abi Nichols, painted a canvas in support of the event. The canvas was signed by rally attendees and continued on a town tour where it has continued to receive signatures to represent community support for the city of Galesburg, which is currently in 2nd place! State Senator LaHood, State Representative Moffit, and Mayor Garza are a few that have already signed!

The Galesburg community has been voting for the city on the Reader’s Digest website in hopes of winning the grand prize for the past two months and will continue to do so until May 16, 2011. The grand prize, a total of $40,000, will be used for the city’s choice of projects. Many are focused on the community coming together to work towards this common goal and look forward to the opportunity for change in Galesburg!
