Blick’s Lincoln Park store was a sponsor of the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival, held July 31-August 2, 2009. The festival included the Live Art Masterpiece Battle, held on August 1. The Live Art Masterpiece Battle was organized by the Know Art Collective and Chicago ARTillery, and it was sponsored by 35th Ward Alderman Rey Colon and The Puerto Rican Arts Alliance.

The competition featured 18 contestants, 16 of whom finished in time to have their pieces judged. Entrants were judged based on how well their artwork captured the spirit of the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival.

Congratulations to Corryn Jackson (First Place), James Scalfani (Runner Up), Cody Sanders (Runner Up), and Keely Hakula (Runner Up)! Cody Sanders is also an employee at the Lincoln Park Blick store!

The three-day festival included live music, various art events and exhibits, as well as local vendors. Over 120 Chicago area artists participated in more than 20 exhibitions open to the public. Activities were staged along Milwaukee Avenue between California and Ridgeway.
