The annual Little Italy Festa was held on Sunday, October 11th in San Diego’s Little Italy neighborhood. The Festa is a celebration of Italian culture and history and is attended by visitors from across the United States.

Gesso Italiano, a chalk painting event, was one of the activities held during the Festa. Squares measuring 5′ × 5′ were blocked off on India Street for artists to create Italian-themed chalk paintings. Blick Art Materials sponsored the Gesso Italiano event and provided chalk for all the artists who participated. In keeping with the Italian theme, visitors also had the opportunity to stop by the Blick booth to work on a fun craft project of their own by stringing shaped pasta noodles into wearable art for the day.

San Diego’s Little Italy neighborhood will host it’s annual Little Italy Festa on Sunday, October 11, 2009 from 10am-6pm.

The annual event, now in it’s 15th year, includes a Chalk Painting Event known as Gesso Italiano. Blick Art Materials will provide chalk for all participating artists as well as partial sponsorship of the prizes. Artists are each to create a 5′ × 5′ Italian-themed work of art on pavement. Attendees will have the chance to vote for their favorite entries throughout the day. Gesso Italiano will be located on India Street, between Fir and Grape Streets.

The Little Italy Festa attracts visitors from across the United States and features a variety of activities. Many food, art, and retail vendors are expected to participate. If you’re in the area, don’t miss this opportunity to join in the fun and celebrate Italian culture and history!
